SADOWSKI JAMES PERRY SADOWSKI 10/13-53 - 5/2012 àJames Perry Sadowski, age 58, died suddenly of natural causes at his home in Fort Lauderdale on May 1, 2012. He was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Chester and Florence Sadowski on October 13, 1953. He moved with his family to Marathon, Florida in 1955 and attended San Pablo Catholic School. His father (Chester) and his grandfather (Phil) were the developers of Key Colony Beach, Florida. The family moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1967 and Jim attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he was a varsity athlete. àJim is survived by his two sons, Phillip of Key Largo and Perry currently serving with the U.S. Navy stationed in South Carolina and has been commissioned to the George H.W. Bush in Virginia. Perry (Traci) gave Jim his first grandchild on April 18, 2012 (Zoe Amara). àHe is also survived by his sisters Mary Guerin (Robert) of Marathon, FL, Margaret Tillinger (Wendell) of Marathon, FL and Virginia Jantz (Rob) of West Palm Beach, FL and brothers Robert (Arlette) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Thomas (Jatha) of Jefferson City, MO. He was an uncle to 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his older brother Chester (Jerri) of Katy, TX and his parents Chester and Florence Sadowski. àJim was involved in the food and beverage industry for many years and often was the cook for fire fighting crews in the forest fires out West. He also worked in various construction trades. àA celebration of life is planned for June 2 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Prebyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL 401 SE 15th Avenue (behind the Floridian Restaurant on Las Olas).

GIERULA àStanley J. Gierula, 59, a longtime resident of Marathon, passed away surrounded by his family on June 1st, 2012. Born Oct. 15th, 1952 in New Britain, CT to Stanley William and Dorothy Kempa Gierula, Stanley and his family moved to Marathon in 1981. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Robin and father Stanley William. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanette Gierula; partner Karen Liljehult; mother, Dorothy Gierula and sister, Victoria Silberstein (& family). A Memorial service will be held in Connecticut at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Stanley's name to Keys Forgotten Felines, Inc. at P.O. BERNAZANI Patricia A. (Coleman) Bernazani, 80, a resident of Nashua NH and Marathon FL, and former longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in the company of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Henry A. Bernazani with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage on April 4th. à She was born on September 14, 1931 and was a daughter of the late John and Frances Coleman. à Patricia had been active at the Marathon Senior Center and was a member of the Chelmsford Emblem Club. She spent many years as a volunteer at Fisherman's Hospital in Marathon, FL. Patricia was a woman of great faith. Her favorite pastime was spending time in the company of her family. àIn addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by her loving children; Susan Bisson of Nashua, Michael Bernazani and his wife Pamela of Chelmsford, Jane Noyes and her husband Thomas of Chelmsford, Marianne Isabelle and her husband Donald of Nashua, and John Bernazani of Lowell. She will be missed by her 8 cherished grandchildren; Jenifer Schena, Faith Bisson-Simoneau, Jessica and Michael Noyes, Anthony & Julianne Bernazani, and Tyler and Zachary Isabelle and 4 great-grandchildren; Cameron, Sebastian, Isabelle, and Jake. Patricia leaves one brother, Paul Coleman, and was predeceased by her siblings Kathleen Johnson, Mary Cotone, Jack Coleman, and Barbara Shaw. à Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Blake Funeral Home in Chelmsford, MA. FLINT James Howard Jim Flint of Marathon, Florida was born September 15, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio. He died June 6, 2012 here in Marathon, Florida. He is preceded in death by his mother Norma Wall; father Dorman Loyd Flint Sr.; brother Dorman Loyd Flint Jr.; and nephew Pete Flint. He is survived by his daughter Michelle Flint; son-in-law Guillermo Aryan; step-daughter Leslie Evans; his sister Sheridan Flint Rodriguez and husband Rudy; his brother Robert Skip Flint and wife Myrna; and mother of his child, Elaine Guba. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews and special sister-in-law Cheryl Flint. He served in the Marine Corps in Japan during the Vietnam War. He worked with the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority for 33 years where he recently retired. He also worked for his daughter's ON TIME taxi service.

Pearl Carney Kobusch. à He retired from Florida Rock & Sand and was a 40 year member of the Elks Club. LaVerne is survived by his two sons, Daniel J. Kobusch and Douglas P. Kobusch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister Janice; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. à He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley and brothers Robert and William. LeGate àVeleta Ruth LeGate, age 77, of High Springs, FL, and former long time resident of Key Largo, FL, died on May 31, 2012, at Clare Bridge of Gainesville FL. àVeleta was born to Paul and Ruth Colby, in Fairview, OK on December 17, 1934 just minutes after her twin brother Velden. àVeleta graduated as Valedictorian from Cheyenne Valley High School, and very soon after married Norman LeGate, her childhood sweetheart. They met when she was 10 and he was 11 at the wedding of her brother Verlyn and his sister Glenna. They remained devoted to each other for 57 years. àVeleta and Norman loved to travel and called many different places 'home' over the course of their lives. In 1971 they moved to and fell in love with the Florida Keys where she began her real estate career. She began as secretary to renowned Real Estate Broker Joseph Lance in the 70's, and as with everything else she excelled. By October 1976 she had her real estate license, and then in the early 80's she became a real estate broker and opened her own office, Island Properties. In 1985 she was named Realtor of the Year and in 1989 she was elected President of the Florida Keys Board of Realtors. àIn December of 2000, Norman and Veleta moved to Branford, FL to enjoy their retirement years. Just a few years later Veleta was stricken with Alzheimer's. Norman became her most patient, loving and devoted caregiver until his death in 2010. Her grand-daughter Tiara, daughter Traci and other family members took over this role to give her the love and care that he had. However, regardless of aspirations, no one could ever fill the shoes of her beloved Normie. àVeleta is survived by her three children: Devan LeGate, of Key Largo, FL; Steve (Dede) LeGate, Inverness, FL and Traci (John) Bacom), High Springs, FL. Her four grandchildren: Brandon (Heather) LeGate, Gaithersburg, MD; Tiffany (Jose) Wheaton, Key Largo, FL; Tania Burgess, Cape Cod, MA and Tiara Wheaton, Key Largo, FL. Her great- grandchildren: Aspen LeGate and Bailey Marie Zepeda. Her twin brother Velden (Elaine) Colby, Citra, FL and sister Vona Noble, Wichita, KS. Many loving nieces, nephews and other family members and long time friends. àVeleta was predeceased by the love of her life Norman LeGate, her parents Paul and Ruth Colby and her brothers Verlyn and Vinton. àVeleta will be laid to rest at the Oak Grove Memorial Cemetery in Branford, FL. SILAR à Susan J. Silar, 65, formerly of Wrightsville, PA, passed away on Friday, June 8th, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Susan was co-owner of several businesses with her husband, most recently Vice President of Fabricators, Inc. on Big Pine Key. She was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Mann. Susan is survived by her loving husband, Lynwood Silar, 2 children, Michael and Jennifer Silar, and 5 grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. à A celebration of Susan's life was held at Boondock's on Ramrod Key on Thursday, June 14th. Interment will be private. à In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in memory of Susan to H. Joe was a retired automotive blacksmith working side by side with his wife, Lillian, at their shop, BeeLine Frame & Axle in Westmont, IL. Joe and Lil lived in Marathon, FL for 25 years before moving to Stuart, FL in 2004. àJoe is a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Air Force. He was a lifetime member of the Moose, Am Vets, American Legion, DAV and VFW. àHe is survived by his wife, Lillian R. Hattan, daughters Carolyn Romero of Broomfield, CO and Dorothy (Bill) McQueen of Marathon, FL; sons Donald (Chris) Hattan of DeKalb, IL and Dennis (Eileen) Hattan of Joliet, IL; sisters Katy Gallagher, Ann (Tom) Kavanaugh, Virginia (Bob) Hoerres, and brothers Bill Hattan, Jack (Mary) Hattan, Tom (Barb) Hattan, Larry (Marcia) Hattan. LATTIMER à Richard M. Dick Lattimer died in Miami Baptist Hospital on June 2, 2012. He was 70. Dick was born in upstate New York, graduated from Camden High School, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While serving, he obtained his private pilot's license and began a life-long love affair with flying. A few months after becoming a flight instructor, Dick was hired as pilot by United Airlines. He flew with them for 25 years, many of them as a captain. Dick retired to the Keys. He loved the place, the people, and the slow pace of life. He is survived by his four children and his many friends. A celebration of Dick's life will be held at the Lorelei Marina in Islamorada on Saturday, June 30, at 3pm.

Suwalski, 87 years old, died at Fishermen's Hospital on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. à He is survived by his sisters Stella Rumovitz of Eynon, PA and Marion Karpowicz of New York; daughter Deborah Suwalski Rego of Marathon; grandchildren Tanya & Justin Rego of Marathon, Christopher Leger of Derry, N.H., Nicole Petrick of Grassy Key, FL; great grandchildren Alexis, Ethan, Sydni Leger, Robert III & Ryan Petrick. àHe was a devoted husband to Rose Chiccarelli Suwalski for 54 years and a devoted dad to his only child Deborah. He was an avid bingo player in Marathon, where he met many good friends. He resided in Milford, MA for many years before moving to Marathon in 2002. CHAPPELL à Ronna L. Chappell, 39, Tavernier, FL, died June 16th at Jackson Memorial Hospital after a painful battle with ALS. Born in Putnam County, Indiana on August 16, 1972, she was the daughter of Judith Ann Smedley Allee and Ronnie H. Allee. à She graduated from South Putnam High School in 1990 and from Indiana University SPEA School in 1994.She worked for the Indiana Manufactured Housing Association. She was the director of the Indiana Licensed Beverage Association. She had the honor of working for Congressman John Myers in Washington, D.C. While residing in Florida she was employed by the Islamorada Fish Company and Century 21 Keysearch. Ronna was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie H. Allee; his parents Alice Marie Allee and F.M. He finished his working career doing resort management & security. à He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Bennett; his mother, Catherine I. Deerholt and his oldest brother William Bennett. à He is survived by his wife, SueEllen Bennett; daughter, Janet (Scott) Mizell; son, Vincent Bennett II and granddaughters, Katelyn & Kathryn Mizell. He is also survived by his brother, George Bennett; sister, Catherine Bylock and brother Johnny Bennett. à He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. à Funeral arrangements were made by Allen-Beyer Funeral Home. A celebration of Life Service was held with family and friends on June 18, 2012 at Saint James the Fisherman Episcopal Church.
