RUDELL Dick F. Rudell Dick Rudell, a fourth term Commissioner on the Monroe County Mosquito Control Board passed away suddenly of natural causes at the age of 72 at his Marathon home on Friday February 4, 2011. Born July 19, 1938, Richard Frederic Rudell who grew up in in Weston, MA was the son of Irma Hughes Rudell and John Richard Rudell. He graduated from Weston High School in 1957 and attended Northeastern University. Dick was a Navy veteran. After several successful business ventures in the Boston area, he was eventually lured to the Florida Keys by the warmer climate where he owned and operated Dockside Lounge and Dick's Dockside. In the early 1990s Dick found Keywood Cabinets, a cabinet design company in Key Colony Beach and was operating the business at the time of his death. At the time a vacancy opened up on the Mosquito Control Board, Dick was asked if he would run as a Commissioner. He was successful in his bid and was re-elected last November to his 4th consecutive term. Dick is survived by a sister Linda Phoenix of Framingham, MA and a sister, Leslie Pyle of Irvine, CA. He has six nieces and a nephew and ten grandnieces and a grandnephew. There will be a memorial service in Marathon in March and the date is pending.
